something new is here...

greetings!

i am excited to finally be announcing something that has been on its way for quite a while now. zack smith design has now become Uplyft Creative.

My wife, Brittany, and I have teamed up to expand services and influence to areas before unreachable on our own. Since she is a print design genius, we'll be able to point more energy toward creating quality custom designed print materials and corporate identity branding.

We are also now taking more of an interest in photography, videography, and audio communications. So if you've got anything along those lines you need help with, please do let us know.

We're really excited about this new direction and we hope you are too. If you're interested in knowing when the new Uplyft site launches, please go here and enter your email address.

This little news column here will soon be evolving into a blog as well... Hopefully then we'll have the chance to know you and your interests better. We would love to have the opportunity to help you meet your graphic design and cross-media marketing needs.

Stay tuned to uplyftcreative.com for the latest. Blessings!

'tis the season...

wow... this year has really flown by fast! i feel as though i'd be lucky just to keep up. i'm happy to be able to slow down a bit and spend some extra time with family and friends for the holidays. i pray you're able to do the same.

i read a great article today by cameron strang in the latest issue of relevant magazine. it, among other situations and messages "randomly" popping up into my life lately, has inspired me to find some way to make a difference to someone who may be less tangibly fortunate than i.

i encourage you to check out the article and discussion online and think about what you can be a part of to help another human being. it could be a powerful experience for you as well as them. love: amazing how we have all been given the capacity to give it and the need to receive it.

as far as design goes, i have been doing even more work for some ministries at the bgct; please check out my latest here: youthevangelism.com.

you can expect a brand site for worship leader trae castles to be up and running any day now, and there are a couple other (top-secret) projects in the works, due early 2008.

i've also recently gotten into twitter! if you are a twitterer, or would like to be, let me know so i can follow your feed. you can find mine at twitter.com/zacksmith.

thanks for reading! i hope the holidays find you blessed with joy and wisdom more than ever. much love...

new work!...

just launched 2 new sites: fairhaven students and be on mission. both of these projects allow for some really cool interactivity.

the first is a site for a youth ministry in demopolis, alabama. it uses php/mysql to deliver photos, news, events, a blog, and even a podcast to the students involved there.

the second has been built to help connect people to missions opportunities all over the world. it uses a custom google map to help visualize search results wherever there are across the globe.

check them out: fairhavenstudents.com // beonmission.org

gmap latitude/longitude finder...

ever needed to find the latitude and longitude of some location on the planet? here's a little app i made today to help a client do just that, using gmaps.

if you've ever wanted to develop something with a map, but been a little timid, go for it! the google maps api is easy-to-use, well documented, and makes short work from what would otherwise be impossible.

i've been doing quite a bit of design and development for my friends over at the baptist general convention of texas.

additionally, we have some very exciting new projects to launch in the coming weeks... perhaps even a redefinition of self... it could be epic.

until then... blessings and peace to you. hit me up on the contact page and let me know how you're doing!

merry christmas!...

just launched: a new site for tennessee singer-songwriter myla smith. it's completely flash and content-manageable. i also got the chance to hack her corresponding myspace profile as well. visit either of those to check out her music... it's good stuff.

also just released: a site for barry stone and his custom homes. if you need one in north texas, why don't you give him a call? i have also recently begun a blog entitled "reverent fear" for myself and some friends. please click the web link above to check these out.

some other projects in the works (in no particular order) are xxx church, east shore estates, and cannons online. i am also currently working hard to improve content management for all my beloved clients, and i hope to let you see what's in store here soon.

thanks for reading; please be sure to show your heart to someone this holiday season... it is a powerful thing. thank god we have an example of this to learn from.

on new websites and chapters of life...

i hope you're doing well and feeling blessed.

i've been feverishly working to build a couple new websites which are now complete, and there are more on the way! check out the web section above to see alsburybaptist.com and excellentdental.com.

also, i'm relocating this week to my hometown of decatur, texas. why, you ask? god-willing, i'll soon be transitioning into the next chapter of my life. it seems i need a place to cocoon for a short time. we'll see what i look like when i emerge.

don't get me wrong: i'm still available for any design needs you might have, regardless of where in this world you live or work. so click on contact if you have anything to say! later...

i guess i should update this...

man it's been a while. so much to do; so little time.

you can see a couple new logos i've designed by clicking above if you'd like. those were fun. and i'm currently updating my cms to make it a more practical and intuitive workhorse. a miniature beast of burden, if you will. other than that there may be 2 or 3 new websites to post up here over the next couple of months.

god is good. send me an email and let me know what's going on with you!

the new zsd...

hello... i don't know how many people are actually going to read this, but let's just call it an experiment, shall we?

i've just finished up my new portfolio website, and i for one am pleased with the fruits of my labor. it feels good to have technology working for me this time. this new site features a custom cms that makes it so dad gum easy to update my portfolio. the old site (god rest her soul) was so high maintenance...

there are several new projects in the works, which you'll be seeing here very soon, so please check back often. there are a lot of cool things going on. thanks for stopping by and please have a great day!
